Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

14EW timetables for London Transport's

country bus and Green Line coach services come into operation on December 31. Due to a further marked decline in passengers, particularly on Sundays, the frequency of some services will be reduced and certain little-used services will be withdrawn at the weekends.

In a number of cases buses will be retimed to provide improved bus/train connections or to help factory workers and schoolchildren, and extra accommodation is being provided on some heavily-used services.

The total mileage scheduled will be cut by 2+ per cent and the overall reduction on Green Line coach mileage will be about 3+ per cent. This compares with an average reduction in the number of passengers carried last year of 4+ per cent on buses (17 per cent on Sundays) and over five per cent on coaches, which lost seven per cent of Sunday passengers.
