Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AS the result of Dr. Junkers's extensive experiments in connection with all-metal aeroplanes, a novel method of construction has been developed for the roofing of buildings. In this country Lamella roofing, as it is named, is being

manufactured by the Horseley Bridge and Engineering Co., Ltd., of Lionel Street, Birmingham.

Lamella construction consists of a series of triangles, each of which is composed of four steel pressings bolted together. Three different sizes of pressing are made and, as a result, almost any size or type of roof can be constructed from mass-produced parts, which generally will be available from stock.

These triangles can be assembled into an arch of from 30 ft. to 200 ft. span, • but it is Stated that the most economical spells are from 50 ft. to 120 ft Furthermore, the rise of the arch can be anything from one-eighth to one-half of the span, therefore it can form the

" walls " as well as the roof of the building. In shape the arches can be segmental, semicircular or Gothic.

Amongst the advantages of this type of building are that it leaves the entire floor space clear right up to the roof; it is easily and rapidly assembled from the standard parts ; the building may be extended as required with a minimum of expense and inconvenience, and the cost, it is claimed, compares very favourably with that of other methods of construction. Many forms of covering can be used over the framework.
