The Removal of Blackpool's Ban.

Commonsense treatment of the taxicab question is, at last, to prevail in Blackpool. After refusing to consider the granting of licences about a year ago, the Blackpool Town Council has now taken a more-favourable view of the matter, and has invited the Carriage Proprietors' Association, and owners of chars-h-hancs, to appoint deputations to confer with the Watch Committee on the subject before any definite action is taken. The committee has before it a proposal from a north-shore garage owner, who has purchased 10 licensed hackney carriages (horse-drawn) and proposes to surrender these in exchange for five licences for inotorcabs. He desired to obtain licences for a total of 10 motoreabs, but, as the Committee appeared to consider that behind the scheme there might be an attempt to get the taxi business into the hands of a company, the invitation to a conference, as stated, was issued.
