Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

EUROPEAN COMMUNITY Type Approval Status has been achieved by CV bodybuilder the Bevan Group five years ahead of the mandatory deadline — making it the first company in the UK to do so.

The Halesowen, West Midlands-based firm has met Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) requirements, meaning it can build and sell vehicle bodies of the same type with a Certificate of Conformity across the EC without further inspection.

Last year, Bevan gained ISO 9001 accreditation following the introduction of a new paperless quality management system at its recently modernised Haiesowen and Oldbury production sites — a key factor in passing the relevant EC directive tests.

EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) provides a mechanism for ensuring vehicles and bodies meet relevant environmental and safety standards, and authorises approved bodybuilders to build vehicles to a proven specification and selfcertify these as compliant with relevant laws.

The VCA were fantastic," says managing director Anthony Bevan, "They made it as simple as they could.

"The VCA made attempts to simplify the dccurrentatIon, which is initially daunting. They kept an open line of communication all the way through the process."

Bevan believes gaining this early accreditation will give his group a major advantage in pitching for orders, especially those with short lead-in times.
