Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS to the Leyland 500 vehicle range are announced this week. All models will feature a new super-trim cab and an uprated version of the fixed head 510, the 511, will be standard for the Buffalo and an option for the eight-wheel Octopus.

Replacing the 510, the 511 develops 172kW (230bhp) at 2,400rpm and 830Nm (612Ibft) maximum torque at 1,500rpmboth figures to BS AU 141a: net installed. Compared with the 510 power is increased by around 13kW (18bhp) and peak torque is slightly increased but is developed 200rpm later.

The power increase has been achieved by the specification of a higher capacity turbocharger and uprating the fuel-injection equipment to match. Leyland points out that the basic 511 unit has been tested to 250bhp..

The engine shares the same design as the 501 and 502 engines introduced at the Scottish Show last year. Compared with the 510, the volume of the oil/water heat exchanger has been increased by 20 per cent and the lubrication oil-pump capacity has been lifted from 82 to 123 litres (18 to 27 gal) per min.

Practical luxury is the key behind the revamped cab trim. The interior sheet metal surfaces have all been trimmed with " soft" coloured panels and an over-screen document tray is supplied in a full-width locker system having in-built folding sun visors.

The Ergomatic cab's familiar side window demist nacelles are incorporated into a pocket in the new door trim casing and additonal grab handles are located on the door closing posts.

A perforated lining panel backed with sound deadening material covers the roof which also has a concealed strip light.

The dash top facia board is retrimmed in brown which is also used through the instrument binnacle, pedestal and floor mats.

Brushed nylon seats are standard and the engine cowls are covered in brown ABS.

Other improvements include recessed pockets in the back panel for the air system low-pressure warning switches and for the wheel-jack.

An electrically operated screen washer is also provided as are larger wiper arms.
