GRANTS totalling £2,086,311 have been made by the Minister of Transport to Lancashire County Council and Bolton County Borough Council towards the 12,784,451 estimated cost of constructing a dual carriageway road bypassing Farnworth and Kearsley, Lancashire.

The by-pass, 1.6 miles long, will run from near the junction of Green Land and Manchester Road (A666) in Bolton to the junction of Halshaw Lane and Bolton Road (A666) in Kearsley.

The scheme, which will take two years to complete, forms part of the redevelopment of south-east Lancashire's main road system and will relieve congestion in Farnworth and Kearsley.
