TIA0 new models have been added to L Bedford TJ series of normalcontrol goods chassis. One is a 1-ton pick-up powered by the new Vauxhall 2.6-litre six-cylindered petrol engine, and the other is a drop-sided lorry version, of the 25and 35-cwt. chassis. As applied to the Vauxhall Velox and cresta cars, the power unit specified for the pick-up develops 113 b.h.p. (gross) at 4,800 r.p.m. in its high-compression form, whilst the torque output is 148 lb.-ft. (gross) at 2,400 r.p.m. In the pick-up it is mated with a three-speed

all-synchromesh gearbox, and this is actuated by a steering-column lever.

Semi-elliptic springs and telescopic dampers are employed at both axles, and the vehicle has a gross weight rating of 4,600 lb. The wheelbase is 8 ft 5 in., and the all-steel welded body is 6 ft. 6 in. long, 5 ft. 6 in. wide and 1 ft. 8 in. deep. The cab is almost identical in appearance to that used on the small TJ models.

Complete, the pick-up is priced at £627 for sale in Great Britain, whilst there is a chassis and front-end version which costs £475.

The new body for the TJ 25-cwt. and 35-cwt. vehicles is built by flawson, Ltd., Sunbury-on-Thames, Middx. It is 9 ft. long, with a fixed headboard and removable sideboards, tailboard and rear corner posts. Bolster rails and a tilt frame and cover are offered.

When the new body is fitted the 25-cwt. petrol-engined lorry costs £714, and the 35-cwt. petrol-engined model is priced at £737. Oil-engined versions cost .€100 more in each case.
