Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AFTER six months' operation, the Northern Trailer Co., Ltd., Bishopbriggs, Glasgow, are producing five semi-trailers a week. This rate of output should be doubled by the end of the year when extensions to their factory are completed. At present, Northern Trailer offer a standard range of from 10-17 tons payload capacity made up of three basic models.

This applies to both singleand tandem-axle designs. The 14and 16-17-ton semi-trailers have twin air-line braking as standard, whilst the 10-ton model has a Scammell auto matic coupling with mechanical braking.

On the two heavier semi-trailers, landing gear may be either a mechanical type or the hydraulic mechanism manufactured by the Adrolic Engineering Co., Ltd., Milngavie, which has recently become available in an improved production Version.

The Adrolic gear will lift up to 20 tons and is equipped with a mechanical lock which takes effect if the hydraulics should fail or leak. The legs retract automatically with the movement of a lever after coupling.

On• the Northern Trailer models• the Adrolic mechanism costs the same as gear-operated types.
