THE Hyster concern of the United States are fitting the Perkins P6 engine as an optional factory Installation in three of their fork-lift trucks. The Perkins engine will be available on the American domestic and export markets for RC-SC series trucks, which have a capacity of between 15,000 and 18.000 lb
The American company have stated: Hyster's Dutch dealer made first Perkins installation about five year ago. Since that date many Perkins Diesel engine installations have been made at the Hyster N.V. factory, Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Results of this experience have been excellent.
Unlike most American small Diesels, the Perkins Diesel is designed specially for automotive applications to replace gasoline engines. The result is a combination of strength with lightness. In an industrial truck this is very, important since the engineer is usually crowded for space."
Replacement parts will be stocked at the company's factories in Oregon and Illinois. Hyster service representatives will instruct dealers how to service the British engine.
TO BUY ANOTHER 100 BUSES 'THE Rehabilitation Ministry of the Indian Government have given permission to West Bengal State Transport to spend an extra Rs.3m. on the purchase of 100 buses and the employment of another 800 displaced persons. The undertaking has already been allocated Rs.1.5m. to buy 50 buses and employ 400 displaced persons.
