Kevin Swallow finds a recent C/A auction producing some startlingly good results.

As the hazy summer days drifted towards autum n, trade buyers and end users jostled for ringside seats last week as Commercial Vehicle Auctions in Doncaster put through nearly 400 vehicles, of which 223 pieces, including trailets, sold:Rimover was an impressive £1.23m -a good result according to operations director Charles Wright.

There were a few notable results for the auctioneers, not least the pet-regs spec 14 Scania P114L 6x2 1999-day cabs. All sold for between £8,350 and £7,800 (ex-VAT) -not bad for an "undesirable" truck.

Also under the hammer was a repaired lowroof yellow 2032 MANTG410A 6x2 (V-car category D). It caught the eye on the front row fetching £25,500 (ex-VAT) but was bettered by a two-year-old Daf 95XF 430 4x2 with a Space Cab on a 2001 plate,sold for £37,500 (ex-VAT). A second 95XF 430 6x2 registered on an S-plate (1998) went for £18,950.

In the rigids there were three smart Renault Premium 6x2 26tonners with sleeper cabs and tag axles, one with a faded City logo on the side. The truck, with Distribution spec,250hp engine and 291t curtains, went for £20,500 (ex-VAT) and another with a Privilege spec and 300hp engine got £22,000 (ex-VAT).

There was a surprise early in the day with five white Iveco Daily panel vans going under the hammer. On a 2001 Y-plate the 35S11 high-roof vans arrived "direct from the finance company" and one got £6,000 (ex-VAT).Another fetched £5,900 (ex-VAT) with the final three going for £5,800 (ex-VAT).
