Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Hensall-based Lewis Tankers runs and maintains a 76-strong, mainly tanker fleet that delivers a range of flammable, corrosive or toxic materials, plus edible products, around the country.

Recently Lewis Tankers has added four Oaf CF85.430 6x2 tractive units, all equipped with Easimount wet kits, and has another 10 new Iveco and Volvo chassis on order. Half are 430hp 'baby' Stralis, the others FM12.420s and some may well have the same discharge gear added.

Operations manager Barry Lewis says the company first considered such equipment many years ago, when specialist contracts went quiet and general work increased.

"In our business payload is very important but, sometimes, we clearly need vehicles that are more versatile and demountable delivery systems are the obvious route," Lewis explains.

Having eight suitable vehicles, it may even keep a spare Easimount package handy and when spot work comes in, have its workshop do a quick conversion.

"Yes, there's a slight weight difference, but when tanker work dries up, we can remove and store it, and your basic tractor is over 100kg lighter, so it's swings and roundabouts,' he says.
