• Reviewing his proposals to combat vehicle noise, Mr John Peyton, the Minister for Transport Industries, said in the Commons last week that he wanted to achieve significant reductions in the current noise levels during the next year, and in the longer term a reduction of about 10 decibels — a halving of the apparent loudness.
This proposal, he added, had been put to members of the EEC.
