• Hauliers who ran the gauntlet of picket lines during the 1984-85 miners' strike have been thanked by British Steel chairman Sir Robert Scholey.
Speaking at Tipcon in Harrogate last week he said that the tipper operators had helped British Steel through the dispute by continuing to haul raw materials and steel to and from steel plants.
