Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

incident which occurred approximately a month ago. This involved one of my drivers who went to the assistance of another driver, whose vehicle was on fire on

the M6 northbound near Knutsford. Closer inspection showed it to be the turbo that was ablaze on a new F12 Volvo belonging to a well-known company.

My driver gave assistance with one of the two fire extinguishers which all my vehicles carry, and managed to put the fire out before the Fire Brigade arrived. His prompt action undoubtedly saved the vehicle from extensive damage, if not a complete burn out. The driver of the F12 was most grateful for the help, but concerned that my driver would only have one extinguisher. He therefore submitted his company's name and address, whom he considered would be most appreciative of the help given, and who would pay for any cost to refill the extinguisher.

It is the subsequent events that leave me annoyed and flabbergasted. The overall cost of the replacement cartridge was approx £7.00 which is not what you would call a king's ransom. It will not break me to write it off, and I do not suppose it would break the well-known company to pay it. To my mind it's the principle that is involved.

On phoning the company's transport manager a couple of days later about events, a short terse comment "I will see what I can do about it" resulted. His attitude left a lot to be desired and considering the company he works for appears to want to show a high profile, with the smart livery

on its trucks, I would have thought the company would need a professional PR person as their transport manager, and not a person who appears to be ignorant of public relations. P. C. Downing
