• National Express managing director Clive Myers is settingup a management team to bid for the company which, as a National Bus Company subsidiary, is up for sale.

A spokesman for NBC confirms that a management team at National Express is one of the parties interested in acquiring the company.

No date has been set for the completion of the National Express sale, but all interested parties have been sent detailed prospectuses, including details of National Express's 1986 trading performance.

Under the rules covering the sale of NBC subsidiaries, Myers and his management team will be given a 5% weighting if they bid for National Express, all other things being equal, when compared with other bidders.
