DISCUSSIONS have been held between the Road Haulage Association and the Ministry of Transport regarding rates for the hire of vehicles employed on short-distance and local services. It has been agreed that from April 1 the hourly rate • for daily and weekly hire (up to 44 hours) shall be increased by 10 per cent., with consequent revision of the schedule of rates for the various areas.

Hours in excess of 44 will be paid• for at the rates in force on March 31 last, and the excess mileage rates (above 220 miles weekly and 40 miles daily) will remain unaltered.
