Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Sheffield-based South Yorkshire Transport is launching a new minibus offensive next month to counter competition from 10 private companies which have moved in to the city since deregulation.

A minibus fleet with its own livery and staff will be based at SYT's Greenland Road depot, taking over from doubledeckers on route 52 (CrookesWoodhouse). SYT has bought 19 minibuses from Lincoln City Transport, and 20 more are on order. Initially, the ex-Lincoln City vehicles will be Joined on route 52 by Beaver-bodied Renaults from the main SYT fleet.

SYT is currently being attacked on this route by Yorkshire Terrier, a company run by five former SYT managers: and Caldaire subsidiary Sheffield and District.

These two operators combine to provide a 10-minute frequency on the City to Woodhouse section — SYT operates a half-hourly service.
