THE ROAD transport settlement seems likely to raise the industry's costs on average by about eight per cent, but it was not possible at this stage to predict how much this would be reflected in charges to its customers, said Transport Minister William Rodgers in the Commons last week.
He was asked by Ray Mawby (Tory, Totnes) if he had taken into account the action by bodies such as the Port of London Authority in charging up to £10 per container per day demurrage for containers kept there because of the strike.
