A MINISTRY probe instigated by Northern LA Mr. John Hanlon has begun into hauliers' complaints that six Cumberland weighbridges afford no facilities for obtaining separate axle weights. The weighbridges are at: Moota quarry, near Cockermouth; the factories of Quaker Oats Ltd. and Solway Chemicals Ltd. at Whitehaven; and local authority-owned installations at Scotland Road, Penrith, Duke Street, Whitehaven, and Winscales, Distington.
