Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Gerald Broadbent has been ousted from Boalloy, in a management buyout at the truck bodybuilder from parent company Marling Industries led by Gerry Brown, former aftersales director at Iveco Ford.

Broadbent, former managing director and best known for inventing the Tautliner — the first curtain-sided bodywork to include an integral restraint system — during his 34 years at the Congleton-based manufacturer, left two weeks ago. He says he is considering setting up a load restraint consultancy firm, but will not "be a competitor in the same field" as the manage

ment team which squeezed him out.

The team, led by new managing director Brown who worked at Iveco and Iveco Ford for the past 11 years, also comprises three existing directors, Jim Gibb, David Hancock and Grahame Potter.

They signed conditional contracts for the sale and purchase of Boalloy from Marling last Friday, with support from investment firm Si and Midland Bank.

Marling had said back in December that it would not sell Boalloy, but agreed on the deal as part of a disposal of certain non-core activities.
