Oscar Roith CB, MA, FEng, FIMechE, CBIM, FRSA, who retired on 29 May after five years as chief engineer and scientist of the Department of Trade and Industry, has been elected 1987/88 President of the 78,000-strong institution of Mechanical Engineers.
He succeeds the current president, Professor Bernard Crossland, with effect from the Institution's annual meeting.
