Commenting on the speech made by Lord Bearsted at the recent general meeting of the Shell Mx-B.P. concern, Major Eric Long, political adviser to A.R.O., said, at a meeting of the Association at Enfield, on Monday, that Lord Bearsted had clearly recognized the perilous state of the roads in this country.

A.R.O., said Major Long, has pressed the Government to go ahead with its five-year scheme, and lie urged that every operator should impress upon his local M.P. the urgent necessity of the completion of this scheme. Two years have passed since Mr. Chamberlain announced his plans to spend £100,000,000 on the roads in the next five years, but now, when two years have passed, only £9,750,000 have been spent.

Lecture on Electrical Service.

Brown Bros., Ltd., Great Eastern street, London, E.C.2, has arranged for a lecture and demonstration to be given at the Majestic Cinema Ballroom, Woodford, on July 6 at 7.30 p.m. The lecturer will be Mr. S. G. Mundy,

A.M.I.E.E., M.I.M.T., and his subject will be " Electrical Service in the Modern Garage." A new item of equipment, in the form of a complete engine and electrical shop, will be available for inspection.

Dodge Convoy in Bucks.

A well-equipped Dodge convoy, comprising five vehicles, will tour the Bucks area controlled by Messrs. Wingfield Motors, Market Place, Chalfont St. Peter, Bucks, from July 19-23. The convoy will include -vehicles ranging from the 15-cwt. van to the 4-5-ton drop-sided lorry.

Dealer's Agreement Signed.

We are advised that The Shropshire Motor Traders, of Shrewsbury, distributors for Dodge Brothers (Britain), Ltd., have signed a retail dealer's agreement with the Crown Motor Co., Bridgnorth, Salop, for commercial vehicles. ULSTER BILL CONDEMNED.

Bitter criticism of the Ulster Road Transport Act was voiced at a meeting at Antrim last week. A resolution was passed unanimously condemning the Bill and urging its repeal. The legislation was described as being autocratic and forced upon the people by a dictatorial Government. It had brought distress to many people.

Mr. Hugh Minford, chairman, said that his committee of Unionist M.P.s was to investigate complaints.
