Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

11300-11500 Series launched In 2000. The new "high-mobility" Unimog borrows from the Atego and Actros component list in the shape of new Euro-3 diesel engines and the Telligent EPS 14-speed gearbox with Electronic Quick Reverse (EQR). The U3000 and 114000 Unimogs are powered by the Atego 0M904LA 4.25litre DI diesel engine rated at 150hp and 170hp respectively. OVWs are 7.5 and 8.5 tonnes.

Flagship is the heavy-duty U5000, powered by the 4.8-litre, 218hp 0M9241A DI. The 115000 Is fitted with the same transmission as its lighter stablemates but has a 12.5 tonne GVW. The Driver Information System (FIS) displays drivellne details about which dill-lock is in place, the cruise control, speed, external temperatures and engine data. The 4x4 113000U5000 Unimogs are available with wheelbases of 3.25m and 4:10m. They feature portal axles with diff -locks; central tyre inflation is available as an option.

Driving impressions CM went to the Unlmog off-road test site at OtIghelm, near Worth, to check out the 113000, U4000, and 1E000. We took them over man-made obstacles, up and down 70% slopes, through deep water and mud holes that you would struggle to walk through.

The Telligent gearbox allows preselection and needs no more than a nudge forwards or backwards depending on terrain. The cab is not the largest, but recent development has concentrated on driveline and chassis rather than a revamp of the cab, which seems fair enough for this utilitarian range.

Few of the trucks on show were close to GVW so the smallest U3000 was able to tackle a 70% slope as capably as the top-of-the-range U5000. Although it does take a little time to get your bearings when crawling down steep river banks and back up a hillside, you are safe in the knowledge that these trucks can cope with just about anything.
