Cardiff lveco dealership Bryan Brothers hopes to be running its workshop round-the-clock by the end of 2003, says general manager David Griffiths. "At present we open lam-lam Monday to Friday, and on Saturday mornings," he says.

Last February the firm moved from Treforest to a purpose-built depot near the entrance to Cardiff Docks. "Technician recruitment is always difficult, but fortunately we were able to hang on to most of our people when we made the move," says Griffiths.

"South Wales isn't an easy area for truck sales, and you have to fight hard for business," he adds. "However we believe the Stralis will take off, just as soon as we get it through in volume."

Heavy industry has declined in South Wales in recent years, but there's still plenty of activity in the service sector, he says: "That's good news for Daily in particular. It's sometimes hard to persuade customers to follow you when you move from one location to another, but we've worked hard at marketing what we've got to offer. That's starting to pay dividends.

"One thing we're finding is that the used side of our activities is picking up well. We've now got a good used display, and we've shifted quite a number of Cargo 7.5-tonners in particular,"
