• Securicor's distributIon division increased its pre-tax profits by 50% to £21m for the year to the end of September.
Turnover for the section that includes parcels carrier Omega Express, Pony Express and Omega Logistics (formerly
known as Russell Davies Distribution) rose from L379rn last year to £469m during 1996.
Omega Express delivered an average of two million parcels a week last year and is now building a terminal capable of handling 36,000 parcels an hour in Hatfield, Herts. Securicor Omega Logistics, formerly Russell Davies Container Transport, handled nearly 400,000 containers during 1996.
Overall Securicor made pretax profits up 16% to £107m for the same period.
