The photograph which we reproduce above is almost of historic interest, and we are the more prompted to publish it at the present time in view of the interest which is being aroused in regard to the motor transport of liquid fuel of all kinds. This method of conveyance, which would appear to be so appropriate, has been receiving the careful consideration of the Petroleum Committee at recent

sittings, and the Editor of this journal, in particular, has placed before that Committee of the Home Office proposals with regard to the employment of the mostmodern designs of motor-borne tank-wagons. The subject of the above illustration is one of the earliest productions from the Thornycroft petrolwagon shops. A. 20 h.p. engine drove through a gearbox and a single chain to the back axle.
