k MERCEDES 608D van, plated at 6.5 tonnes gross, has been quipped to carry day-old chicks at the right temperature by 'itting a KL Clearway heater and six KL motorised ventilators.
The steel canopy over the ;ab section has three internal tir ducts leading to a hollow mlkhead in front of the load pace.
When the van is moving, air s forced into the three ducts ind the load compartment via Thor-level outlets in the bulklead. The motorised ventila tors cause the air to flow when the vehicle is stationary.
Each duct has an internal flap valve which is controlled by a lever in the cab, and the central duct houses the KL heater which is thermostatically controlled to keep the temperature of the interior at 21°C-24°C (70°F-75°F).
