AS reported in The Commercial Motor last week, the Express Dairy Co. (London), Ltd., are to provide facilities for an eliminating round of the Lorry Driver of the Year Competition to be held at Victoria Road, South Ruislip, Middlesex, on Sunday, June 3. This new venue has been selected as an alternative to the Slough site which is no longer available.

At a meeting held in South Ruislip last week the following officers and members of committee were elected to organize the event at this new venue: Chairman, Mr. R. Harvey (director, transport, Express Dairy); organizing secretary, Mr. S. C. Fenn (transport officer, Express Dairy); clerk of the course, Mr. A. E. leer (Schweppes (Home), Ltd.); chief steward, Mr. H. Gunnell (T.R.T.A.); members of committee, Mr. R. F. Bowes (Shell Mex and 13.P., Ltd.); Mr. M. L. White (Uxbridge Road Safety Officer), Mr. D. L. Robertson (T. Wall and Son, Ltd.), Mr. T. P. M. Neligan (Arthur Guiness Son and Co., Ltd.), Major F. W. Firminger (R.o.S.P.A.), Mr. A. S. ilott (Ruislip and Northwood Road Safety Officer), Mr. J.

Lemmer (Watney, Combe Reid and Co., Ltd.), Mr. E. S. Wilson (Slough Road Safety Officer).

After discussion it was decided not to hotel a maintenance competition this year and it was agreed to arrange for programmes to be printed.

Regarding the provision of trophies, it was agreed that members attending the meeting last week would refer to their respective companies the possibility of suitable trophies being presented, as the previous year's trophies would not be available. The chairman, Mr. R. Harvey, said that his company, in addition to providing facilities for the actual competition, would also be able to arrange refreshments for the competitors and officials in the dining room at South Ruislip. In support of his plea that no one company should appear to dominate the competition, he suggested that arrangements should be made so that it was not possible for a company to swamp the entries in any one class, despite any requirements relating to the award of a team prize.
