Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

We expect that our poster this week, upon which the same words appear as those which form the top line on our front cover, will account for not a few puzzled faces. One object of a poster is to make people curious; another to prompt the purchase of a good thing, such as THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR.

A good and kindly act, at the Present time; with Christmas but three weeksahead of us, is undoubtedly to help the CampaignComforts Fund by individual action. We have already spent the money, in advance, and, in 'order to secure more assistance, this time from parties who. may not have had their attention riveted to_the matter before, we make the following propositions. with confidence. We appeal to the managers engineersandforemen of operating cornmercial-motOr companies, whether for the conveyance of passengers or goods, to apply to us for large collecting-cards, to be used alongside the notice-boards, or in 'other prominent places in depots, and. we give-on this page a reduced, facsimile

reproduction of the .card. The original measures ▪ ins. by 20 ins. If one of these large cards cannot

be used by any particular reader, we have available, at the Editorial offices of this journal, a supply of pocket collecting-cards, and a postcard request will

result in despatch to any bona-fideapplicant. .

We were helped, during the first period of our ,Fund, ended the 30th September. last,. by not a few important works organizations. • The • prineipal helpers in this direction included the following : L.G.O.C.; James Bartle and Co., .Notting Hill, W. ; L iYeipo-ol Vesta Cake Co. ; Magee; Marshall and Co., Ltd., Bolton; Loughborough Road Car Co., Ltd. ; Aldershot and DistrictTraction Co:, Ltd. ; John Mowlem Ana Co., Ltd. Westminster ; Aster

Engineering Co., Ltd. ; Ltd., Motor Co., Ltd., Cambridge; Belsize Motors, Ltd.; British Petroleum Co., Ltd., Bristol; Hoare and Co., Ltd., London; Southern Transport Co., Ltd., Brighton; Dodson's Garage, London ; Central Motor Garage, Worcester • per A. H. Hazledene, Cardiff"; Clayton and Co. diuddersfield), Ltd. ; Barnsley Motor Co., Ltd. ; H.M. Register of Deeds, Edinburgh; Home Brewery Co., Ltd., Worksop.

-Many individual collecting-cards were also usefully utilized!. and completed-, about a year ago, but we hope that the total of these may this year be satisfactorily augmented. The motor-transport men have a claim upon an of us who remain at home, and we read in " The Illustrated London News" of the 20th ult., in the course of a complimentary reference to the working of our Fund, the following independent testimony to this view : "The Campaign Comforts Fund-, which looks after these 'no-body's children,' but who are in reality our children—the, progeny of the motoring world—has a can upon all of us at home to help to ease the lot of those who were onceour mates by subscribing our mites in order to send the A.S.C. (M.T.) small tokens of our appreciation in the coming winter. Thus may the hardships of the men be softened, andmany of them, it must be remembered, have left comfortable homes to be plunged straight into the hardships of campaigning without any chance of accustoming themselves beforehand."

:May we. send YOLT one of our Christmas cards? If so, is it to be a large one for a depot., or a small one for a pocket'? • Every penny and every pound help to swell the total. The card is a start for You.
