Tuffneils Parcel Express has been successful in a bid to base 16 vehicles and 10 trailers at Lockerbie after giving the Scottish Traffic Commissioner Joan Aitken a number of undertakings.

The Sheffield-based company appeared before the TC at a Lockerbie public inquiry following environmental objections from neighbours. However, the TC granted authority for the depot after undertakings were given that it would ensure all employees and visiting contractors parked their vehicles within the site and not in Bridge Street; that all vehicles would enter and leave in forward gear; and that it would review working practices should there be complaints from neighbours about the use of reversing bleepers between lOpm and 6.30am.

Licences granted with conditions

Two Hampshire operators have had their licence applications granted by Western Traffic Commissioner Philip Brown subject to a number of environmental conditions.

Scott Small, trading as Gap Solutions, and Ian Jerome, trading as Hadleys Removals, had sought authority to operate from the premises of Total Logistics in Fourflood Road, Havant. Their applications attracted en v r o n mental objections from neighbours. The TC granted the licences subject to three conditions: there would be vehicle movements only between 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 2pm on Saturdays; there would be no vehicle movements on Sundays; and no maintenance was to be carried out on site.

No expansion for two years

Though granting an application for a fivevehicle licence by Larbert-based Steven B Robertson & Partners, trading as Steven Robertson Haulage, Scottish Traffic Commissioner Joan Aitken has directed that the firm be restricted from any expansion for two years. The company had been called before the TC at an Edinburgh public inquiry following an unsatisfactory report from a Vasa vehicle examiner. The TC accepted the surrender of the licence held by Steven Buchanan Robertson, trading as Woodside Nursery, at the same hearing.
