It's official. Iveco group member Seddon Atkinson has not turned its hack on the mainstream haulage market. With the Strata 2 range it's looking to win hack business from traditional haulage customers who've switched over to ERF and Foden.

el by Brian Weatherley Seddon Atkinson is relaunching its heavy truck line-up for Euro-3 under the Strato 2 banner, with a revised engine range and more driveline components shared with parent company lveco. General manager John Schofield is looking to raise artic sales to 200 units per year.

Strata 2 tractors will retain the same cab choice of the coil-sprung 2.3m wide (EuroTech) or 2,5m wide air

sprung (EuroStar) lveco cabs, but with minor interior upgrades including a heated windscreen. And Schofield confirms the Oldham-based truck manufacturer will gain the long-awaited replacement heavy truck cabins from Imo when they break cover, probably next year.

From October, Strato 2 tractors will share chassis frames with Iveco, along with a Mentor drive axle and ZF Ecosplit gearbox. But they will continue to be powered by a proprietary engine—the latest Cummins ISMe, rated between 345 and 420hp. Rear air suspension and EBS disc brakes are standard. Two configurations will be offered: a 4x2 and pusher 6x2, with the mid-lift axle featuring Nem ends.
