Baker has for many years built horseboxes for Horse Transport Ltd.. but this is the first since the war to be mounted on a Bedford chassis. Composite conStruction is employed with all main framing in timber and it completely double-skinned roof is lined; duels above the windscreen admit ventilating air into the space between the inner and outer skins,

and body ventilation can be controlled by a single lever beside the driver.

The centre hay locking bar was specially designed and constructed by E, J. Baker and incorporates, for smooth action and durability. four Bedford engine valve springs. It has two functions: to release the centre bearing and then, by the withdrawal of a safety catch, to release the whole centre pillar at the bulkhead of the two-horse compartment 'so that the horse being led to the single stall can be taken through the larger compartment.

Specialized vehicles are regularly built at the Tonbridec works and include such types as mobile shops. dental clinics. insulated vehicles, meat containers and mobile libraries.
