lHE announcement of new American models, Of makes Which are marketed in Great Britain, is Usually first made in the country of origin of the vehicles; and it is, therefore, often necessary to secure preliminary details from American sources. It is not .always possible to get to know whether it is the ultimate object Of the manufacturers to cater for the overseas market with each and every new chassis -which is introduced, for quite often a new and improved model is designed tomeet a definite set of conditions in the country of Its production.

The new model has been christened the Speed Wagon junior, and the brief -details of its construction, which are in our possession, clearly indicate that it has been primarily built for high-class, express delivery work. Certain modern tendencies are reflected in its design, notable amongst these being the use of a six-cylindered engine and brakes on all four wheels.

The power wilt has a bore of 31 ins, and a stroke of 4 ins., and amongst its outstanding characteristics are a seven-hearing crankshaft, aluminium pistons, semi-automatic spark control, thermostatic temperature control of the cooling water, and rubber insulation from road shocks. The power is conveyed through a large

size clutch of the single-plate type to a three-speed and reverse gearbox. Cam and lever steering gear is employed.

The wheelbase of the new chassis is ft. 6 ins., and it will turn in a. radius of 19 ft.

The standard type of body which is fitted is constructed of pressed steel, and special precautions are taken to avoid drumming, The driver's cab is built as part of the body and is particularly roomy, as well as giving complete protection from the weather. The body interior gives 93 Cu. ft. of loading space.

From an illustration of the new van which we have seen, it can certainly be said that it is built on attractive lines. When it is definitely known if the vehicle is coming on to the British market, We hope .to be able to amplify the details we have given in this brief reference to it.
