Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

By Joanna Bourke DEVON HAULAGE firm Don Gorton has had three quarters of its fleet stolen in two separate raids on its Newton Abbot premises.

Two Scanias valued at £15,000 each were stolen from the firm's compound in Heathfield late in the evening on 28 March.

The theft came just three weeks after a £15,000 DAF tipper was also taken.

David Gorton. a partner in the family-run business, says: "In addition, 100 litres of diesel was stolen from our remaining lorry, and now we don't have enough trucks to carry out our work."

In a separate incident on 25 March, an HGV which was delivering to Tesco in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire was hijacked by a gang who stole a large quantity of cigarettes.

They smashed the cab window at around 730am and drove the truck away for a short distance, before abandoning it with the driver locked inside.

On the same day, at around 3.30am, deodorant and sportswear loads worth £150,000 were stolen, along with an MAN and an ERF truck from Famworth, Boltonbased K & SJ Harvey & Sons.

A group of four masked thieves threatened the group's security guard with a wrench and locked him inside a trailer.

Some consolation came when the company discovered that the Fleetwise Care telematics tracking system, which it thought had been withdrawn since the end of December, was still functioning in the trucks.

The ERF was discovered burnt out at Pemberton, while the MAN was found in an industrial estate in Wigan with its cargo missing.
