Wage Proposals to Minister

(IN Monday the Road Haulage Wages Council met in London, following the statutory period for objections to the proposals contained hi RH (81), The Council agreed to submit the proposals to the Minister who, if he approves them, will make a confirming order, R11(72), and will set a date for them to come into effect. The Council has proposed an increase of 6 per cent in Grade 1 basic haulage pay, with the London differential maintained.

Security Drive

DUR1NG the next few weeks road transport operators all over the country will be visited by crime prevention officers for a discussion on the best methods of protecting vehicles and their loads. As part of this security drive chief constables will distribute more than half a million copies of leaflets published jointly by the Road Haulage Association. the Traders Road Transport Association and the British Insurance Association.

Two leaflets have been produced, one intended for vehicle operators and one for distribution to their drivers. Further copies may be obtained from any of the offices of the RHA or the TRTA, or from the Secretary, Vehicles Security Committee, 22 Upper Woburn Place, fondOn WCI.
