He succeeds MR. R. W. 1OLLEY, now sales promotion officer.

MR. W. C. T. CHANTLER has been appointed chairman and MR. B. W. BLEANEY, managing director, of Jack Olding and Co. (Motors), Ltd. This company has been formed to absorb the motor interests of Jack Olding and Co., Ltd., and J. Fricker, Ltd. MR. A. WILCOCKS is secretary of the company.

MR. H. R. LANE, works manager of Southdown Motor Services, Ltd., will become chief engineer of the company upon the retirement on July 1 of MR. R. F. CLEIIENT, maintenance engineer. Ma. K. T. SMALLEY, who has been with Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., since 1948, has been appointed assistant engineer of Southdown. He will take up his new duties in May.

MR. A. A. B. Siam has retired from his position as Orinskirk district traffic superintendent of Ribble Motor Services, Ltd. He spent his early years prospecting in South Africa and after the First World War pioneered a bus service on Merseyside. In 1928, Ribble acquired the company that he and his brother built up. He took up his position at Ormskirk in 1941.

MR. M. F. BARNARD has been elected president and chairman of the Mansion House Association on Transport.

MR. WALTER BLADES, export sales manager of Scammell Lorries, Ltd., left on Wednesday for another overseas tour. He is visiting Australia and the Far East and will be away for some weeks.

MR. C. W. E. KERR has been appointed general manager of the automotive division of E. R. Howard, Ltd. He was formerly general manager of the motor division of Kerry's (Great Britain), Ltd.

SIR WILLIAM ROOTES, 111 his capacity as chairman of the Dollar Exports Council, left the United Kingdom last week for an extensive tour of the dollar areas of the Caribbean, the United States and Canada.

REPLYING to an objection by the Plymouth Co-operative Society against an application by the Western National Omnibus Co., Ltd., for a -licence to carry members of the Totnes United Football Club to football matches, the Western Licensing Authority, Mr. S. W. Nelson, said he could see no reason for the objection. He hoped the society did not expect him to leave people without means for getting to away matches, because he considered that the proposed service was necessary.
