Exhibit :—One 30-cwt. Lorry ; one three-ton Lorry Chassis, with steel tires; one Station Bus.

The French Bernet vehicles are this year represented by a three-ton chassis, a 3o-cwt. lorry, and a to-seated station bus, and these are shown ow the stand of J. and E. Hutton, Limited, of 81-83, Shaftesbury Avenue, W. The heaviest of these machines is fitted with a four-. cylinder, vertical engine of 22h.p., the cylinders of this motor being momm. diameter in bore, and having a piston stroke of 120mm. It has a governed engine, and develops its power at a normal speed of 800r.p.m., but it may be run as slowly as 300r,p.rn., or accelerated to t,000r.p.m. The driver's seat is elevated to a position above the engine, and the power is transmitted through a friction-disc clutch. The pressure on the plates of this clutch is exerted by a single, central, helical spring, of round-section steel wirc, and, from the clutch to the gear box, the power is transmitted through a long propeller shaft, which is not provided with universal joints. The gear box provides for three forward speeds, and one speed reverse. The differential gear is contained within the same casing as the change-speed gear, and,

on each side of the gear box, there is a brake drum of large diameter, which is acted upon by cast-iron brake blocks.

The chain-sprocket ends of the differential shafts are supported, by separate brackets, from the side members of the main frame, and the manner of fitting these allows for a certain amount of whipping of the frame with. out affecting the alignment of the dif

ferential gear. Either of the chait sprockets, with its brake and differen tial gear, can be taken down withou disturbing the change-speed gear box or the differential gears.

The 3o-cwt. lorry is also fitted witla four-cylinder engine, but this is arranged under a bonnet in the morE orthodox manner. The other exhibil on this stand is a to-seated hotel bus.
