Investment in technology is another area in which the Bale Group is heavily committed and the CMS SupaTrak vehicle tracking and monitoring system has been adopted. It not only enables the traffic office to pinpoint the exact location of each vehicle, but also monitors driving habits and can be used to establish parameters for fuel consumption by checking idling time and the correct use of cruise control.
In a fleet of almost 50 vehicles, and with average annual mileages in the region of 70,000, a fuel saving across the board of even 0.5mpg would add more than £200,000 to the bottom line each year. Having the technology to monitor driver input and encourage more economical driving techniques provides a tangible operating advantage.
