• West Wales animal health inspectors are mounting roadside checks at Pembroke Dock and Fishguard to uncover breaches of the livestock regs.
Dyfed's estates officer Roger Barrett-Evans has told the county's agriculture committee that one fish truck carrying 70 piglets was sent to lairage at Letterson because of its dirty state and inadequate litter.
The vehicle was found by police to be overweight—when it was reloaded under the supervision of a government vet and animal health inspectors, six of the piglets had to be left behind.
