lot of squeaking has been going on since a colony of dormice were discovered by workers building the A34 Newbury bypass and subsequently removed by the Department of the Environment.
This rare creature (the mice not the DOE) is protected by EC law which forbids deliberate capture of endangered species Friends of the Earth has protested to the DoE which has admitted that deliberate capture is illegal but claims that this is "incidental" capture and therefore not illegal Weasel words, in my opinion.
