• As predicted (CM 23-30 June), NFC has announced that BRS is to concentrate on contract hire and truck rental, leaving Exel Logistics to focus on logistics and transport services.
Robbie Burns, managing Director of NFC's Exel and BRS brands, told a conference of senior managers that NFC is reviewing 235 sites and has appointed Gerry Brown as operations manager of BRS and Exel.
Brown is charged with integrating the interests of both brands. His appointment could leave Burns' hands free to take a promotion—the NFC board, currently without a chief executive, is said to be making an appointment a "significant priority".
