• A haulier who thought an operator's licence came with the vehicle he had hired, which he then overloaded, has been fined a total of £1,300 by West Bromwich Magistrates. Burnley-based Wootton & Co pleaded guilty by letter to both offences, claiming it was under the impression the licence came with the vehicle, The offence had been picked up at check by the Vehicle Inspectorate at Perry Bar services on the M6.
