SHORTLY after the appointmei last week of Nicholas Ridley the new Secretary of State fi Transport, there was promotic too for Lynda Chalker.

Previously Under Secrete (with David Mitchell), M Chalker has been upgraded Minister of State for Transport, post that had been left vacant. addition to being a person promotion for Mrs Chalker (N, for Wallasey) this is seen with the Department of Transport a recognition of the extra re ponsibilities it gained last Jui in the shape of aviatio shipping and marine.
