IALLETT SILBERMAN, the eavy haulage division of the rent Group of companies, is ) set up a European subsiiary in the new year. Based at :otterdam in Holland, the ubsidiary will be responsible )r expanding the company's ransport activities throughut the continent.
Holland was chosen as a ase because a great deal of aulage originates from there, nd it is easily reached from ither Harwich or Felixstowe. Hallett Silberman hopes hat the subsidiary will enable _ to compete on better terms vith foreign competition in he transportation of indivisiIle loads in Europe. Before etting up the Dutch offshoot, pedal permission had to be ibtained from the Bank of '..ngland to enable funds to be aken out of the country.
