OVER the next 15 to 20 years, more than £2600m needs to be spent on London's roads, according to the Standing Conference on London and South-East Regional Planning.

Leader of the Greater London Council's planning and communications policy committee, Alan Greengross says that the GLC has a fairly modest 15-year programme totalling £855m, "but if is clear that we shall fall far shot-1 of this target," he said.
"Denying London an adequate roads network is not a saving oi resources, but a wasting of potential wealth. The Governmeni must differentiate betweer spending and investment."
