He will have overall responsibility for all marketing and sales activities, and takes on the major task of spearheading the drive to develop the company's business. Carryfast, the national parcels division of the SPD Group, has appointed two new sales executives. MIKE WALROND will be responsible for Devon, Cornwall and Somerset, and will be based at Cullompton depot. LESLIE SOUTH will cover Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and parts of Avon from its Bristol depot.

MICHAEL HURST takes over as divisional manager in the South of England for the National Tyre Service. Based at Winchester, he will control 12 branches along the south coast between Bognor and Lymington, and inland to Newbury, TIP Trailer Rental has made two new appointments. SANDY ANDERSON has become area manager of Grays in Essex. He will be in charge of developing TIP business over a wide area to the east of London. Mr Anderson previously spent five years as a terminal manager with Freightliners, having joined the company straight from university. ANGELO SALMASI takes over as operations director for TIP Chassis Rental, and will be responsible for the containercarrying skeletal trailers. He was previously director of operations for vehicle rental company Hertz International.

ROBIN BERRIMAN has been promoted to finance director of tipping-gear maker Edbro. He has been finance controller since last August. He joined the company in 1978.

NORMAN ALLEN has been re!elected chairman of the transport and distribution specialist group of the Institute of Management Services. Also reelected are JOHN HEGGS, deputy chairman and MIKE COTTINGHAM, secretary.

The integration of Interleasing Truck Rental and Interleasing Ltd has resulted in the following 'management changes: PETER GUNTER becomes regional manager for Birmingham. He will be in charge of seven consultants in the Birmingham area. ROBERT MACMILLAN is promoted to rental sales manager. He will be involved in the expansion of the car and lorry daily rental operations in the Stoke and Manchester areas. EDDY WILDE takes over as manager of fleet management programmes and national accounts, and CHARLES HART becomes sales manager for Truck Leasing.
