Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE works of Duple Bodies and Motors, Ltd., The Hyde, Hendon, London, N.W.9, are prominently situated in the main Edgware Road, and have been specially designed for bodybuilding. The frontage is taken up by 'the showrooms and offices. A tour through the shops revealed the

• fact that the company is busily engaged in the construction of coaches and bus bodies of the latest pattern. Particular attention is devoted to building all-weather coaches with an easily operated hood and adjustable glass windows. The seats have comfortably shaped backs, whilst accommodation is afforded for luggage in concealed lockers, the utmost use being made of the paaelwork extended below the chassis line.

Duple Bodies and Motors, Ltd., not only build various styles of front and rear-entrance service-bus bodies, but its experience is available for the production of any kind of Pullman saloon coach, replete with every modern refinement. The Duple convertible body has enjoyed a wide reputa tion for several seasons past, and the new factory gives scope for dealing with the ever-increasing demand experienced for this most economical 'form of bodywork. This remarkable but simple invention enables one chassis to be put to two or more distinct uses. For instance, a touring ear can be converted into a light lorry, or into a shooting brake. A box-van top, complete with rear doors, can also be substituted. These rear doors are in one piece, because the fixed unit consists of a driving seat and a body side which is curved downwards at the back end. This feature has many advantages over the ordinary pattern of detachable top with a division line which merely cuts the body in half at the waist line.

We also inspected a combination hearse and mourning coach, as well as a very useful type of shooting or luggage brake. This should appeal to owners of country houses, boarding schools and all those who wish at any time' to convey a small party and quantities of parcels or luggage. The main portion of the body is provided with a canopy and stanchions and curtains all round. A wide back door provides access, and it may also be used as a tailboard. The longitudinal Seats lift up, so that the whole of the space inside may be devoted to luggage carrying. The particular example on view was made with outside ash framing MO mahogany panels and finished in the natural colour of the wood. The picture reproduced at the top of this page shows bodies of different types passing through the works of the company.
