Commercial Vehicle Auctions in Doncaster is an independent auction house handling trucks, trailers and plant. The company has been trading since 1989 and holds Wednesday sales twice a month with a throughput of some 160-200 trucks and 80-150 trailers per sale.

"We occasionally see an F2000 8x4 but they are really still too young to be coming up for auction in any numbers," says managing director Chris Wright. "We have sold a few of the earlier F90 372s this year and I was amazed how well they did—they reached prices that were above our expectations. One of the last of the F90 372s, registered in 1995, sold for 127,000.

"The MAN eight-wheelers are good work tools; you only have to see the people who buy to know that," he adds. "Muck shifters love them and they work them hard. The more powerful sixcylinder engine is the more popular option to the five-cylinder unit with the F90, and in the used truck market I see no reason why it should be any different with the later F2000 8x4s.
