P and M Transport, of Bradford, has appointed a new director, Cliff Leader. He takes on responsibility for operations, management and development.

The company is associated with Transflash Units and has been acting as its haulier. But Mr Leader will now develop P and M as an independent company.

Michael Stephenson, a new director of Davies Turner, will be involved in the company's freight forwarding to the Middle East.

For the past three years, Mr Stephenson has been in charge of a specialised vehicle control department set up to monitor movements to the Middle East.

At the Association of Transport Co-ordinating officers W. R. Gregory has been named honorary secretary with the appointment of David Sayburn to London Transport.

Greater Glasgow PTE has appointed Neil Townend as its new director of operations. At present, he is assistant director of public transport for the Lothian Region.

Powell Duffryn Engineering has appointed Barry Eseott area sales engineer for the home counties.

Frank Rew has been appointed psv sales and marketing manager by Burrells of Ipswich, part of the George Ewer group.

Trelleborg Rubber's new power transmission division is to be headed by Bill King who is moving from Andersons Power Drives. The new team will also have Tony Collins responsible for technical services.

Peter Smith has joined the transportation division of Price and Pierce as general manager of Fleetway Vehicle Marketing which has been formed to sell surplus and redundant vehicles, for operators.

Mr Smith moves from the National Freight Corporation where he set up the vehicle disposal unit at Mortons in Coventry.

N. C. Dick is to be the new sales director for Crompton Electricars. He joined the company in 1976 as sales manager from Baron Instruments.

At Burrnah-Castrol, Tony Fithern has been appointed automotive co-ordinator in the trade co-ordination department. He was, formerly, international controller of motor industry liaison.

Craven Tasker (Northern) has appointed Tom Dinning director and general manger. Based at the Cumbernauld factory, he will also be responsible for the Garstang complex.

Mann Egerton Midlands co-ordinator Archie Clayton has been appointed to the main board. He joined the company in 1961 as sales manager.

Also at ME, Peter Belak and Dennis Wood, joint managing directors of Lighting and Leisure Industries, have joined the ME board after the acquisition of their company by ME.

Dunlop product development director Peter Ware has retired, but he will continue to act as consultant to the group.

Malcolm Tickridge is moving to Liberia to take charge o Firestone Plantation Company's production. Malcolm who has been works director at Firestone, Brentford, for the past three years joins the company's international division and takes up his appointment immediately.

Replacing him on the board as works director is George Gauthier who began his career with Firestone, in 1966, in the international products division.

David Murray has retired as district traffic superintendent with Highland Omnibuses, a Inverness, and has been presented with a wallet and notes from his colleagues by traffic manager Mr Gordon Steele.

Obituary

It is with regret that we announce the death of Evan Davis, Scammell vehicle engineer, who died recently the day after his retirement at the age of 65. Mr Davis, who had been with Scammell for 44 years, leaves a widow.
