Once again we have witnessed the demise of a large international operator whose breath-taking growth and competitiveness was assisted by the RO-RO ferry operators. Presumably they find themselves once again the largest unsecured creditors, and they only have themselves to blame.

1, and many other longestablished, reliable, British, family operators, watched them grow, then watched them go, only to see them come back again in another name to do the same.

It seems to me that when you start paying £50 or less to cross the Channel you are on your way out—we know who's next, don't we? (We wish!) It seems as long as you pay more than £150 you're safe.

We are constantly reminded that the big are getting bigger and that the medium sized firms are in trouble. But if I were the boss of a ferry company I think know who would get my support.
